Everything You Need to Know About GPA & CGPA Calculation
What is CGPA?
CGPA stands for Cumulative Grade Point Average. It represents the overall academic performance of a student over several semesters of study in a university or college. Unlike GPA, which measures performance in a single term, CGPA is a weighted mean of grade points accumulated across your entire degree.
How is GPA Calculated?
GPA is calculated by dividing the total number of Quality Points earned by the total number of Credit Hours attempted. Quality points are determined by multiplying the numerical value of your grade (e.g., A=4.0) by the credits of that course.
The Formula
- 1
Assign a point value to each grade received.
- 2
Multiply those points by the course credit hours to get quality points.
- 3
Sum all quality points and divide by the sum of all credits.
